About Us
Welcome to our homely lodge by the sea — a peaceful and secure sanctuary created for rest, reflection and reconnection. Once a simple stopover, our property has been lovingly reimagined as a homestead style retreat space for guests seeking quiet, intention and genuine renewal.

We offer a selection of Oceanview hotel-style rooms and private standalone Garden Bungalows, each simple, clean and fully equipped with everyday comforts. While we are not a luxury resort, we take great care in maintaining a calm, nurturing environment — one that reflects our Christian values of hospitality, care and respect for others.

Our lodge is especially well-suited to retreat groups, facilitators, and guests who are seeking a slower pace —
adults, couples, solo travellers, and small groups who value peace and purpose in their stay.

While families are welcome, please note that our environment is quiet and intentionally tailored toward adult guests and retreat experiences. We welcome children 12 years and over.

Guests are welcome to spend time in our shared lounge —
a relaxed communal space ideal for reading, journaling, small group sessions or quiet connection.

Nestled within a village environment with the ocean just across the road, our lodge offers the rhythm of everyday island life, making it an ideal destination for wellness retreats, creative retreats, faith-based retreats, and personal renewal getaways.

Our Story, Our Vision

Karleen and Derek Rasmussen welcome you to their lodge at Mulifanua.
Life can get pretty noisey, full of deadlines and the day to day pressures of life. Nestled within the village environment of Mulifanua, Karleen and Derek have worked to create a space to simply slow down, relax and just take some time out to 'breathe'.

Whilst we are not a resort, we are a small family-run lodge committed to offering restful, respectful stays grounded in our Christian values of kindness, service and integrity. Whether you're stopping by for a couple of nights or staying a while, we'd love to host you at our 'homestea' - a quiet, coastal village lodge (chickens and roosters included), with a heart of hospitality.
We look forward to welcoming you.

Karleen's personal vision is to create a welcoming sanctuary for women—whether travelling solo or with friends. Our ladies-only retreats, open to all faiths, offer a nurturing space to rest, reflect, and recharge. With all-inclusive stays, every detail is taken care of, so you can relax, feel cared for, and leave renewed.

Accomodation
Karleen and Derek have been on quite a journey, lovingly restoring the property. The journey began in July of 2023, when they purchsed the lodge, which had not been occupied in five years. As you can imagine, with the tropical climate of Samoa, nature had taken over.
Today, with the grace of God and His provision, the property has been (and continues to be) renovated and restored.
The lodge offers two two main room catergories.

Located at the front of the property are our Oceanview Hotel style rooms, each with their own balcony allowing you to gaze out to the Mulifanua Lagoon. The spacious Oceanview rooms have 1 x queen bed, and 1 x single bed. with an ensuite style bathroom. The Oceanview rooms have a built in wardbrode, kitchenette space with toaster, jug, plates and cutlery, each room has a small bar fridge.

Located within a garden style setting are our Standalone Garden Bungalows. Each bungalow, offers a different bedding configuration. Our bungalows are each individually styled, cozy and tropical. We are continuing to develop our bungalow interiors, as Karleen seeks individual pieces for each bungalow. Every bungalow has its own private bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, small bar fridge, and place to hang your clothing.
